Merry Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas!!!  We pray that you enjoy a wonderful holiday season with your families!

Click HERE to watch a video of the Christmas story with your child!

Read below for the Nativity story in Luke 2...

The Birth of Jesus

1 At that time the Roman emperor, Augustus, decreed that a census should be taken throughout the Roman Empire. 2 (This was the first census taken when Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 All returned to their own ancestral towns to register for this census. 4 And because Joseph was a descendant of King David, he had to go to Bethlehem in Judea, David’s ancient home. He traveled there from the village of Nazareth in Galilee. 5 He took with him Mary, to whom he was engaged, who was now expecting a child.

6 And while they were there, the time came for her baby to be born. 7 She gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him snugly in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no lodging available for them.
The Shepherds and Angels

8 That night there were shepherds staying in the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of sheep. 9 Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified, 10 but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. 11 The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David! 12 And you will recognize him by this sign: You will find a baby wrapped snugly in strips of cloth, lying in a manger.”

13 Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others—the armies of heaven—praising God and saying,

14 “Glory to God in highest heaven,
and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.”

15 When the angels had returned to heaven, the shepherds said to each other, “Let’s go to Bethlehem! Let’s see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

16 They hurried to the village and found Mary and Joseph. And there was the baby, lying in the manger. 17 After seeing him, the shepherds told everyone what had happened and what the angel had said to them about this child. 18 All who heard the shepherds’ story were astonished, 19 but Mary kept all these things in her heart and thought about them often. 20 The shepherds went back to their flocks, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen. It was just as the angel had told them.

Love to each of you as you celebrate the Savior together,

"Who can add to Christmas? The perfect motive is that God so loved the world. The perfect gift is that He gave His only Son. The only requirement is to believe in Him. The reward of faith is that you shall have everlasting life." -Corrie Ten Boom

A Note from Mrs. Bryant

 Lower School Parents,

This morning we had an unexpected power outage on campus which led to an unplanned early dismissal.  I wanted to take a moment to celebrate how well our Lower School teachers and staff executed each part of today!  They ensured that your children were safe, calm, loved, and happy as they awaited your arrival.

I am also so grateful for our Lower School students!  They were so flexible and well-behaved...you should be very, very proud of each of them!!!  I pray you have a wonderful night, and we look forward to seeing you tomorrow; remember it will be late start Wednesday.

Chapel Today!

This morning in chapel Dr. Patterson shared with our 4th and 5th graders about comparison and gratitude.   He reminded us that often comparing ourselves and our circumstances with others can cause us to forget to be grateful for the gifts and blessings God has given us!

Help Us Support Backpack Ministry

Dear Lower School Parents,

We are excited to be part of The Backpack Ministry again this year. This ministry provides food to hungry children.

FPD has adopted over 60 students at Rosa Taylor Elementary School who were identified by their principal and school counselor as children who have very little to eat when not at school.

Each week, our elementary and middle school students have the opportunity to pack food bags in their classrooms. Some of our high school students, along with FPD’s Community Service Director, Holly Scott, & FPD’s Art Teacher, Stephanie Garrison, deliver the “backpacks” to these students every Wednesday for families to pick up.

WE NEED YOUR HELP! Would you consider buying some of the items listed below when you go to the grocery store? The food will go directly to our FPD Backpack Pantry and will help fill our weekly bags.

Items can be dropped off in the Elementary or Preschool office areas.

If you have questions, please contact

Stephanie Garrison @ stephanie.garrison@fpdmacon.org  or

Holly Scott @ holly.scott@fpdmacon.org

We are so grateful for your continued partnership!

Sincerely,

Line Arrow: Slight curveThe Backpack Committee
